Tell us about yourself and what inspired you to become an Aesthetician?

I’m Armenthia Carr, an award-winning licensed aesthetician, educator, author, and owner of Ur Skin Therapist, a corrective skincare spa in Central Arkansas. I’ve been in the beauty industry for over 15 years, and what has always inspired me is the transformation that happens beyond the treatment room. Skin concerns can have such a huge impact on how someone feels about themselves, and I wanted to be the professional who helped people understand their skin instead of simply covering up what they didn’t like about it.

As my career grew, education became just as important to me as treating clients. I love helping clients understand the “why” behind their skin concerns, but I also love teaching other aestheticians how to confidently treat different skin tones, especially skin of color. My philosophy has really become: “Your skin is always speaking—we just have to learn how to listen to it”.

How long have you been an aesthetician and what is your favorite thing about your job?

I’ve been a licensed aesthetician for 9 years, and my favorite part of being an aesthetician is seeing the moment a client realizes that their skin can improve. Sometimes people come to us after years of trying products, following trends, or feeling frustrated because nothing has worked.

Being able to educate them, create a plan specifically for their skin, and then watch their confidence grow as we start seeing changes will never get old to me. I also love that this career has allowed me to become an educator and pour that knowledge back into the next generation of beauty professionals.

How has Skin Script changed your business?

Skin Script has given me a professional line that allows me to be corrective without losing the customization that is so important in my treatment room. I work with a very diverse clientele, with a major focus on skin of color, hyperpigmentation, acne, texture, and barrier health, so I need products that allow me to adjust a treatment based on what I’m actually seeing in front of me.

I also appreciate that Skin Script doesn’t just sell products, they invest in education. As an educator myself, that means a lot to me. The education makes it easier for me to build intentional protocols, teach my clients about their skin, and confidently incorporate the products into both my treatment room and professional education.

I’m currently even incorporating Skin Script into one of my Skin Games case studies, which has allowed me to really document what consistent, strategic treatment can do over time.

What are the Skin Script products you can’t live without?

My Skin Script products I absolutely can’t live without are the Honey Brightening Cleanser, Cherry Enzyme, 20% Lactic Brightening Peel, and Mandelic Brightening Serum. Each of them plays a different role in how I approach corrective skincare, especially because so many of my clients are working through concerns like hyperpigmentation, uneven tone, texture, and post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation.

If I had to choose just one favorite, it would hands down be the Honey Brightening Cleanser. I love how effective it is at giving the skin a deep, thorough cleanse while still leaving it feeling comfortable and refreshed instead of stripped. For me, that is so important because corrective skincare does not have to mean being overly aggressive with the skin. I work with a lot of skin of color, so I am always mindful of protecting the skin barrier while still choosing products that support brighter, more even-looking skin.

I also love how versatile it is. It gives me such a great starting point before moving into enzymes, peels, or other corrective treatments because I feel like I’m beginning with a clean, balanced canvas. The Cherry Enzyme is another treatment-room favorite because of the glow and softness it gives the skin, while the 20% Lactic Brightening Peel and Mandelic Brightening Serum are products I love incorporating when pigmentation and uneven tone are major concerns. Together, they really fit the way I practice: intentional, corrective, results-driven skincare without forgetting that the health of the skin always comes first.

Where or what is the best place you’ve ever been to?

One of the best experiences I’ve ever had was the family cruise we took this summer with more than 40 of our family members and friends. We traveled to Aruba, Bonaire, and Amber Cove, and it was truly one of those trips I will never forget. There was something so special about having our family together in one place, relaxing, laughing, and making memories.

My husband and I even ended up participating in the Love & Marriage game show on the ship, which made the trip even more memorable! Between spending quality time with family, exploring beautiful destinations, and actually having the opportunity to slow down and recharge, it was the perfect combination of fun, relaxation, and rejuvenation. More than anything, I loved being able to create memories with the people I love.

What is the most embarrassing thing that has happened in the treatment room?

I definitely had a rookie-business-owner moment when I completely miscalculated how much product and how many supplies, I had compared to the number of clients I had booked. I realized I was running low on both professional skincare products and gloves right in the middle of a busy schedule!

Thankfully, I was able to make a quick trip to Cosmo Prof and grab professional-grade skincare to get me through until my Skin Script order arrived. As for the gloves, my superhero husband came to my rescue and showed up with a box so I could keep working! It was embarrassing at the moment, but it taught me a lesson I definitely haven’t forgotten: always check your inventory before a fully booked week. Now I can laugh about it, but at the time I was thinking, “How did I let this happen?”

What would you pick if you won a sweepstake that gave you a lifetime supply of anything you wanted?

I would pick a lifetime supply of plane tickets! I love traveling and experiencing new places, but so much of my career now also involves education, speaking, trade shows, and connecting with beauty professionals in different cities. Give me unlimited plane tickets and I’m going to see the world, teach while I’m doing it, eat some good food, and make some memories with my family along the way.
